Three Sticks Golf

Features

For Players–

  • Only requires 80 to 90 minutes to play (Shorter Time Frame = more opportunities to play = improvement)
  • Lower Green Fees (everyone will be happy about this—especially families)
  • Less strenuous for older players / casual players / novices
  • Less intimidating for those just learning The Game

For Owners–

  • 5/8 reduction (approx.) in initial Land Acquisition costs (when compared to Acquiring Land for 18 holes)
  • 1/2 reduction (approx.) in Golf Course Construction Costs (when compared to Constructing 18 holes)
  • Excess acreage (if converting from an existing course) can be put to other uses:
    •  Expansion/creation of practice areas
    • Devoted to other agriculture or other business opportunities
    • Sold off to Third Parties (which just might pay for the cost of re-constructing)
  • Reduced Maintenance costs (refer to the Benefits for Superintendents section below)
  • Increased demand for weekday morning or evening rounds
  • League play could be expanded further into the evening
  • 18 – hole players will pass by the clubhouse twice (for F/B)

For Superintendents–

  • Overall costs are reduced
  • Less water used for irrigation / smaller irrigation system to manage
  • Reduced amount of product for spraying / less inputs of herbicides – fungicides – pesticides
  • 2/3 reduction (approx.) in fairway acreage to mow
  • Up to a 20% reduction (approx.) in green surface to care for
  • 2/3 reduction in bunker surfaces to rake
  • Reduction in machinery / tools / supplies
  • Staff reductions (the course could be cared for by the Supt. and perhaps only two or three more)

For Players–

  • Six holes played toward three different flagstick positions creates 18 unique golf holes
  • Individual groups can choose to play the course toward any flag position desired
    • Novices can choose to play toward the easiest flag position available
    • Better players can play toward the most challenging flag position available
    • Seven different ways to play the course (see “Background” >>> “So, let’s talk…”)
  • Players will find themselves Pausing to Reflect and/or Strategizing Ahead
  • Friendly Wagers will be more fair when changing partners at six – hole intervals

For Owners–

  • Six and Twelve hole players will be especially intrigued to come back
  • Your course doesn’t have to close for Green Aeration
  • Your course can be advertised as being more environmentally sustainable
  • Your course will be very attractive to those in charge of smaller outings

For Superintendents

  • Typically only two different tee boxes per hole (although there is no reduction in teeing surface)
  • Hazards are shared (i. e. 20 bunkers will seem like 60)
  • Less “wear and tear” on each green will keep your course more beautiful
  • Reduction in the necessity of cup changes (T, Th, Sat)
